stupid hsa

i may have misled my fellow JPA friends into thinking that i'm having the time of my life in HSA through my email even though my intention was to subtlely relate how disgusted i am with my job without sending out negative vibes since i believe some of you may hate what you are doing at your respective hospitals as well..

yesterday PRP's stationed in the ward had a meeting with the bosses. all i could say after the meeting was that they sent me to hell. during the remaining times i'm in ward, i will have to effing present a case every week, finish the requirements and get them signed by the respective ward pharmacists after every stations and wtf since i'm going into CCU next week, imma have to do this ACS statistic thingy whereby i have to fill in more formsssss.PLUS i'm going to be stationed in MTAC on tuesday and thursday afternoons so if you do the math, i'm almost left with no time for my presentation and many other things i owe the wards considering i did 2 weeks in medical and 2 weeks in ICU already ok wtf FML

and i have 10 days to my forensic exam, haven't minused out the 3 days that i'm going to spend in batu pahat.

stop having meetings already and stop suggesting so many bullshits ok wtf i hate HSA even my period stopped visiting

the interesting part of my job

i get to expose myself to new cases everyday now that i'm in ICU but today's new case in ICU selatan is one really rare and interesting one -.-

This 23 year old male is admitted to ICU for epigastric pain. i later read that he swallowed a toothbrush (???) two months ago and recently complained of stomachache. my heart went out to him when i learnt that he's mentally slow but then to swallow toothbrush? that requires some supernatural power!
how does one swallow toothbrush?!?

the specialist then reached out for his x-ray:

we saw 5 or so toothbrush heads from the chest x-ray! so it wasn't just one, but 5!
a bag at the back of the patient's bed caught our eyes and when we looked into it....we found bloody 10 or so toothbrush sticks, apparently removed from the patient during an op the day before zomg 10 toothbrushes!

while others are struggling to live, this patient could swallow 10 toothbrushes and survived the feat which i believe doesn't involve any specialised training!

aih life can be so ironic.

my ward boss is going for haji in mekkah end of this year for a month or so i heard wahahahhaa!!!i can't be happier!!*chuckles*

my arms have been aching since last sunday's aerobics class. doesn't stop me from going to the gym tomorrow hohoho :p

yesterday's presentation sucked heh. it felt like a spoon-fed class for me instead.

emo

it was my first day in ICU. because mr tan, the other ICU pharmacist isn't around, i have to follow encik shafie do ward rounds this week, covering both ICU's (south and west) whilst waiting for mr.tan to be back.

today's yet another helluva stressful and embarrassing day. nothing went well for me, not even the meeting we had with ketua pegawai farmasi. apparently she wanted us to communicate and give feedbacks to what she has said and when we do, it's still back to square one. what she wants remains an order, whatever issues brought up by us were categorised as complaints.

i hate my job.

macau 2D1N & hong kong days 1&2

* some details may be missing due to my failing memory and of course also because this was quite sometime ago before my world fell apart aka before i started my job as a pharmacist. *

we flew from singapore and reached macau at 3pm. we were on the bus when i sensed something amiss. our initial plan was to stay at a hotel close to venetian but NOT venetian coz i mean, how could we afford rite..hehe...
well, to cut a long story short, it was meant to be a birthday surprise for the birthday girl (me) but obviously i was sensitive enough aka perasan enough to sense that we were going to stay at The Venetian after all..

i knew the hotel room would be classy, sophisticated and all that but the bathroom was just W.O.W. the bathroom was sparkling clean with no hidden dust in every hidden/unhidden corners.

the bed and the small living room. the decorative pillows and bolster are obviously for picture taking purposes only coz there wouldn't be enough space for us plus the ka-changs. the room alone has 2 TV's and everything in it spells Quality with a capital Q! even the bed is ultra Comfortable, capital C!

we showered, met up with his sister's bf, dilly-dallied before taking the shuttle bus to Sands casino to have their famous seafood buffet =)

the place looked and sound impressive but the food was quite disappointing. it was HKD238 per person (or around there). i wouldnt actually recommend anyone to try their buffets coz it's really not worth it despite the elevated price everywhere else. i feel with that price we could have settled for dinner at a restaurant much finer than this.

the musical fountain outside Wynn hotel was spectacular! truth be told, it was even more romantic than Paris.

we then proceeded inside the hotel to witness the wishing tree (forgot what's it called in chinese already though not like i'm able to type it out here anyways)

damn it was even more awesome than the musical fountain! when the tree started moving up to the ground people (whom i assume as gamblers) started throwing coins in non-stop! -.- see how the rich live off gamblers' superstition..i'm not a gambler but we threw coins in too wtf

outside venetian..this picture didn't really do justice to the beauty of the place but trust me, it wasn't easy to get a nice shot

we can't possibly be paying HKD1100+ to put up a night in a hotel like this without taking pictures now, can we...
we set off early the next morning to senado square to have breakfast yay!

double boiled milk (HKD16) and peanut toast (HKD7). yucks yucks yucks. very expensive too.

the furnishings were the reason i was attracted to this coffeeshop. bad choice.

unsatisfied, we tried their famed portugese eggtart which was so effing delicious.

*will insert name of tourist attraction next time*
i swear that day it felt like the sun was right on above my head it was so hot i couldn't pay attention to half of what my bf was saying. the street vendors were selling drinks at an exorbitant price of HKD10 per cup we HAD to have a cup or else i wouldnt be here blogging already.
we then proceeded very quickly to the famed ah-ma temple, spent awhile there then zoomed off to The venetian again for its air-cond.

YES! AIR-COND!!

walked around, had lunch at the food court, did no shopping then went to board the ferry to HONG KONG!=)

you don't have to have a history of sea-sickness to get sea-sick on this ferry. i was nauseating almost the entire hour.
upon reaching hong kong, we checked in our hotel then what else, makan!

this particular shop is exceptionally famous for its claypot rice (approx. HKD28) and fried oyster with egg (HKD20). yummeh!

it was ultra crispy and very oily, just as how i liked it that night! one of the must-tries in hong kong, i'll definitely come again the next time i'm here!

this was where we had our delicious dinner at =)

we then had a walk at their night marketsssss (they have plenttttyyyy of them). not long after, it's dessert time at Hui Lau Shan!!

the mango dessert was sooo good it puts the dessert houses we have in malaysia to shame! the carrot cake was surprisingly good too coz it's salty enough. i think the bill came up to HKD33.
next morning.....
we had breakfast in this shop recommended by our food guide. love its old skool-ness.
it didn't come cheap though. porridge was HKD11 a bowl and you tiao HKD5 per piece. the you tiao's were said to be the best in Hong Kong (how not to try) and i think its true. coz it was too good! it was piping hot, fragrant and oily! BEST!

my century-egg porridge. he had meat porridge. mine tasted better hehehe

their menu. you can pack up and leave if you don't know how to read chinese characters. by that i don't mean pack and leave this shop; but i mean you can very well pack and leave Hong Kong.

after the satisfying breakfast, we took the bus to tsim tsa shui.

hello...didn't bring clean clothes to change so had to stay from getting too close to the water/waves.

@ the temple ashore

trying hard to force a smile for the camera here despite having the fireball right above me.

the longevity bridge or so he says..

the ''red-string'' God that brings couples together, right? something like that..

*drools* owner of the car nowhere to be seen, assumed to be a tycoon's xiu yeh.

damn. so cantik!!

we had lunch at Kau Kee Restaurant aka The Definitive House of Beef Brisket.

i know beef noodles are yummy but i didn't know it could be THAT yummy. his curry beef brisket (HKD28).mine was clear soup (HKD28). the beefy aroma was exhilarating and orgasmic! i'm missing it sooo much! highly highly recommended! let's just say that you haven't been to hong kong if you haven't tried Kau Kee beef brisket!

we shared their house specialty tea. very expensive though, i think it was HKD12 or HKD16 per cup.
the queue to get to The Peak.

i can't remember how long exactly we waited for our turn but i guess it wasn't less than 2 hours.

kononnya can spot many celebrities but we saw none probably coz it was a weekend and the place was packed with people ah duh!

i can't remember how much we bought the package for but it included the sky terrace or something which allowed us to go up to the top of the peak (the peak of The peak wtf). price of ticket i can't remember zzzz *later will edit*

we had dinner at a sucky restaurant serving sucky food. that's my fish ball noodles (HKD26) which sucked fishBALLS. we were fooled by its many patrons but now come to think of it i think it was just coz it's strategically situated a street away from Lan Kwai Fong -.-
the food was unappetizing but i managed to 'pretend' that it tasted alright till the last bite (didn't wana be a wet blanket).
his curry noodles (HKD30 like that). the sight of it now makes me nauseous already =/

ended the night having dessert in *can't remember*. mango + pomelo + sago (HKD20). yummies =))

important HK travel tips (or so i feel):
1. try to dine in reputable places. out of the 10 places we had meals in, 9 were in our food guide and they tasted good and/or beyond. the 1 meal we had at a place we conveniently stumbled upon (near Lan Kwai Fong) was worse than worst.
2. bring more cash than what's in your budget. over-estimate, never underestimate.
3. transportation is extremely expensive. however, it's a need. =)

work

first day of reporting for work started out nicely then everything started going downhill from there. came home tired, had dinner, went to pasar malam, jusco tebrau city, 2 and a half episodes of TVB then piak on the bed; next thing i know is the alarm ringing at 7am.
okie wtf, second day of work, i felt energised then everything started going downhill (again). felt sick for whatever reason including the overwhelming stress, intimidation, getting lost within the hospital, the eerie corridors and walkways, the canteen, the canteen food, the (yet to be mine) workload etc...popped in a metoclopromide, went under the sun for 20 minutes, felt better, threw up, felt better, lunch time, felt worse, even worse, went back at 4pm, threw up in the car, felt better, had dinner then here i am after whining to too many people.
now i'm hoping that this downhill cycle and vomiting episode does not repeat itself tomorrow.
i don't even want to remind myself that this isn't even the beginning...
=(

Hong Kong Days 3 & 4

come day 3 in Hong Kong, the sun has already taken its toll on my skin. i was appearing red and felt itchy on both my arms that were exposed to the sun for 3 consecutive days.

nothing deterred us from waking up early that morning though, with thoughts of meeting my friends (some flying from malaysia and the others from london) in my mind, i was extremely excited!

baby and i had our breakfast at Jardin's bazaar in causeway bay prior to meeting them. with the food guide in hand, we made our way to a highly recommended tau fu fa shop.

we tried tai cheong bakery's egg tart before that. this was apparently ex-governer chris patten's favourite and the thing which sets this aside from other typical egg tarts is its almond crust. it was really good; not exceptionally great but better than the ones found in malaysia.

the said shop for breakfast.

we decided to give the noodles a try after seeing it being served to almost every patron. HKD10 i thought was worth it.

the famed soya bean curd (served warm or cold). we had the cold one and it was just mediocre. something like those found in malaysia's pasar malams. HKD10 - standard price of tau fu fa in hong kong.

after meeting my beloved friends in times square, we adjourned to have dim sum in a restaurant recommended by steph near central station. the restaurant was jam-packed on a sunday!
the bf and i

red chilli stuffed with fish paste. it was oily and fragrant, not spicy, so much better than the ones i've had in malaysia!
polo pao. didn't like the meat stuffings.

i thought their har kao's were the best i've ever tasted.

nai you pao. so nice can die T.T

the bill came up to HKD300+ i think. we were very full then.

after breakfast, we stopped by a herbal tea shop before heading towards the goldfish street for chao tau fu!! i was very excited, the rest of them were too annoyed by the heat to feel the excitement.

i tell you this picture doesnt do justice to the weather we were actually facing at that time. it was painfully hot; the sun was literally piercing every uncovered part of my skin.
the chao tau fu was much to my disappointment. at HKD6 per piece (which is extremely expensive!), chao tau fu's in selangor's pasar malams win hands down.

we wanted to proceed to our next destination but was seriously bogged down by the weather.

we then stopped by this char chan teng. the usherer was one heck of a funny guy, we couldn't help but to imitate him and laugh at ourselves thereafter.

it was no surprise to us seeing this restaurant packed to the extent of having almost no place to stand while waiting for our table..

thier chicken wings were ''yat lao''. egg tarts were baked fresh from the oven, nai cha was extremely soothing.
after tea or whatever that meal is called, we had a walk at *to be inserted later* coz i've forgotten the name of the mall!
we saw the highly publicised hang fok zi wan from the TVB series Gem of Life..i stared at it, the bf had a glance and then off we went.

the girls went back to their hotel rooms in desperation to freshen up. baby and i then searched for the famous kai tan zai. the search took us almost an hour but it was well worth it because if you look at the queue, you know this stall has the longest line of kai dan zai customers in hong kong!

me looking all shiny from all the walking and sun-bathing.

crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside make this a delicious snack!
baby and i walked back to the hotel satisfied, only to find a surprise awaiting me.

a belated birthday celebration! very touched. thanks so much, all of u..*wipes off tears*

thanks for the present. i love them sooo much!=)))))
we then headed to the avenue of stars to watch the spectacular symphony of lights. i went with high expectations so the showcase was a little bit of a letdown.

that night, we had dinner at Yung Kee restaurant, famous for its roasted goose.

the large restaurant's strategically located near central station just next to lan kwai fong.

an apparent must-order. the middle of the century egg is surprisingly liquified and goes exceptionally well with the ginger.

for a restaurant so highly noted for its roasted goose, it is no wonder that the food will be expensive. but for a total of 5 dishes and an appetizer at HKD900+, i thought it's insanely costly.
but bearing in mind that dining in Hong Kong does not come cheap, i think this could be pretty reasonable to the locals.
the roasted goose was fantabulous, making it a must-try in hong kong.

strolled along Lan Kwai Fong before heading back to our hotels.
baby and i
baby checking into the hotel while i slouched on the couch.
we retired late that night and started our day early the next morning. Day 4:

what better to start the day with than this bowl of beef noodles (HKD 24).

the bf's meetball porridge (HKD26).
Took the long train ride to Tung Chung for the cable car ride to the Big Buddha.

Priced at HKD107 for a return ride, it's said to be more comfortable than taking the bus uphill and the view from the cable car was nothing like the boring ones we had in Genting.

we met my friends at the top. we were all hot and sweaty and i was very well irritated.

we said our prayers and then proceeded down to have our vegetarian meal.

while the girls had their vegetarian set lunch, the bf and i bought the snack package for HKD23 per person. by far the most worth it meal in Hong Kong!

the snack meal came with a plate of noodles which was salty enough to my liking, 2 side dishes of our choice and a bowl of soya beancurd.

holyfying myself to increase my karma

taken under the Bodhi Tree.
We then shopped a little (in my case) at the Citygate Outlet mall. while the rest spent their time (over-time) in the many shops, dear and i spent most of our time in their local supermarket hehe.
Point to note: Hong Kong supermarkets sell on average a can of Carlsberg for HKD6.50 (RM3+) and other beers at insanely low prices!

Before dinner, we tried the durian pancake from Honeymoon Dessert, highly recommended by steph and bee. it was lip-smacking GOOD can die. the durian was so good can die. i miss it so much already...it's HKD23 for 2 small pieces, quite pricey.

taken whilst waiting for the girls before we proceed for steamboat dinner yay!!

It was 10+pm when we reached and holy shite the place was full! FULL can you imagine, on a monday night sumore.
all places recommended by my friends are REALLY famous it seems.
the steamboat base. this was before adding all the raw ingredients -.-

the sauce plates we went oooh and ahhh and gaga and raved about.

the cheapest order is priced at HKD12, such as this basket of veg

Others may go up to HKD28 per plate, i think it includes this. It's considered cheaper already (HKD28) as there's a 20% off food after 9pm.

fish paste

me.favourite.tau.fu.pok.pok.

us minus dear and caroline (who later surprised me with my present thankiu so much!)

what we had that night, plus a few hidden ones. the bill came up to about HKD100+ per person which is really very worth it considering we had 3 big bottles of beer too and very full stomaches.
as much as i enjoyed Hong Kong, there are several regrettable issues, namely
1) i did not get to eat the famous beef balls with fish maw
2) " " " " " " " " " " " " put chai kou
3) i didn't get the Hard Rock baju from The Peak
4) i've only eaten once of the mango dessert in Hui Lau Shan
5) we did not bring enough cash
but really, make a trip to Hong Kong if you have extra cash!

the year in glasgow

it has been 6 weeks since my flight back from glasgow.

being back to malaysia is so far so good but i still miss those days of sleeping at 3-4am when it's still bright and waking up to yet another sunny day.
that's glasgow to me. sunny but chilly. there were days of really scorching hot sun but it's nothing compared to the weather in malaysia so thou shall not complain further.

my first snow experience was also in glasgow. the sun sets as early as 3-4pm but life was still as good, despite the hassle of putting on gloves and other winter gears before leaving the house. now that i'm back, how i wished to have those winter moments in malaysia.
ireland

travelling played a big part in making my stay in the uk a more pleasant one. ireland was not the choice of a holiday trip for me initially, but the picturesque carrick-a-rede rope bridge and the serene town in northern ireland made this the most relaxing trip by far.

the mere thought of going to the movies with the bf this weekend cheers me up; as well as the following week spent in macau and hongkong with him and fellow friends. i'm reallly excited.
since i'm so bored at home, i've been trying to talk to mum but she tak layan me as usual. i pulak tak layan my sister coz she can make people damn tak layan her. but i didn't make mum tak layan me. she is just born to tak layan people.

the happy times in glasgow - steph's bday

on the night of BBQ, it was already evening/night yet the sun was still shining brightly (the wonders of summer in glasgow)

the games we played had so much fun and laughter thrown in =)
birthday girl stephanie and humble hottie yen nee

yen's dessert for that night which we finished in no time.

lamb skewers, marinated as instructed in http://joshicancook.blogspot.com/. it was so good!

meatballs prepared by jac and yen from scratch. minced pork were mixed with carrots and the likes, rolled into balls and steamed to cook before skewing.

aluminium foiled fresh mushrooms, sambal fish and sambal sotong. sedap.

the day before the big day, we had a little potluck prior to counting down to her birthday (you know, the customary 12am birthday song + cake + 'surprise')

braised mushroom. it was sooo good i had loads of it

the yummy curry chicken i would prefer it to be spicier. very good nonetheless

the tomyam nobody says no to! one whole pot of good stuff obviously the dish i had the most that night

mushroom with minced pork i think, again recipe stolen from http://joshicancook.blogspot.com/

delicious, neatly cut and nicely done hainanese chicken rice by wuen under the instructions of sifu fai gor *psst chinese restaurant chef ok dont play play.

yen's chilli. damn nice this one.

sambal petai with sotong. petai + sambal the best combination on earth ever.
wuen's mango + sago lou, her forte. the times i spent at her house eating desserts, playing poker, chatting away, gossiping, practially wasting my time away..those are precious priceless moments i know i will remember for life..*emo's away*
the 3-layer cake baked and decorated by birthday girl's ultra thoughtful housemates =))
